Don’t Overload.

One of the most important rules to keep in mind when developing your course is to not overload your students with information. Giving too much content can easily confuse a student and make it more difficult for them to determine what information is priority. Outlining what the student can expect to gain from the course is a great way to lead students down a clear path. Too much content easily creates a jumble of content rather than a clear, concise idea of what the information is and how the student should apply it.

Simplicity is best.

Be sure to keep the format of the course simple, this creates an environment that will prevent the student from feeling overwhelmed from too much information. A good strategy when delivering training, or any content online, is to create multiple shorter courses rather than one long course. Students have short attention spans and the longer courses can quickly lose their attention.

Less is more.

As mentioned in an earlier post, it is always best to remove content rather than add it. Removing or adding content has a direct impact with how a student can feel overwhelmed by the amount of information.

No online educator wants to create a course that overwhelms the student. Be sure that the content is clear and concise for the student, that in no way will create a confusing atmosphere.
