What is a Learning Management System?
Now that we have a better understanding of eLearning, it’s time to dive into learning management systems (LMS).
Simply put, a learning management system is a platform in which you will actually create and put your course content on. There are a large variety of learning management platforms to choose from, which means there will be some digging involved so that you can find the perfect LMS for your needs.
There are many different ways that you can upload your content to an LMS. You can add your content with:
- Audio files – Often times these types of files are paired along side of video and PowerPoint presentations.
- Video files – PowerPoint presentations can be saved as videos or you can record a video lecture and upload that.
- PowerPoint presentations – Allow you to create slides that can be uploaded to your LMS for students to watch.
- SCORM files – These are interactive elements that are created from authoring tools such as Articulate and iSpring.
Learning management systems also help you to better track and record the course delivery for education courses, as well as online training courses. Many businesses value the ability to track and record course improvement for marketing and administrative purposes.
Remember, research is the key to finding the perfect LMS for your wants and needs. It may be a lengthy process trying to find the one that has the right pricing and elements, but it is worth it in the end. The right research can lessen the likelihood of potentially having to go through the stressful process of changing LMS providers in the future.
