Chalkboard Elements vs. File Elements
From time to time we receive questions from customers who want to create a chalkboard that contains no media. They simply want the student to self-advance through slides at their own pace instead of having timed slide delivery. There are several creative ways to accomplish this through the chalkboard element, however, probably the most effective delivery model for this strategy would not include the use of the chalkboard at all.
If you currently use PowerPoint to create your slides we would like to suggest that you save the PowerPoint as a PDF document and then add it to your course as a file element. The process is quite simple and very effective.
Instructions for Mac users
- open your completed PPT file
- choose File -> Save As
- select PDF within the Format drop-down menu
- click the Save button
- upload the PDF as a File Element
Instructions for Windows users
- follow the instructions provided with your PDF file converter of choice
- if you do not have a PDF file converter, such as Adobe Acrobat, installed on your system you may find that using and online file converter is helpful and inexpensive (in many cases free). I have used the online converter found at http://www.k2pdf.com and found it to be quite effective.
- once you have converted your PPT file to a PDF simply upload the PDF as a File Element
