Parent Layout
What is considered the "parent" layout and how do you create a layout that you can then apply to all chalkboards/courses?

The "Inherited" layout is a chalkboard layout that is assigned from the parent element. You will need to think of your chalkboard as existing in a heirarchy. The chalkboard's parent is the course. The course's parent is your organization and then the organization exists in the DigitalChalk system. Because DigitalChalk allows several different chalkboard layouts, we have specified one layout as the default for the entire DigitalChalk system. That layout is currently the "Small Video" layout where we show the video in the top left corner of the screen and the slides to the right in a large area. DigitalChalk allows you to change the default ("Inherited") layout for your organization which will override the default layout for the DigitalChalk system. For example, if the majority of your courses in your organization is are audio courses, then you may choose to specify the default Chalkboard Layout for your organization as the "Audio Only" layout. This will cause every course within your organization set to the "Inherited Layout" to use the layout specified at the organization level (Audio Only). DigitalChalk also allows you to be very specific about your layout at the Course and Chalkboard levels. If all of the chalkboards in a course are supposed to be in the "Audio Only" layout except for one, then you can set the Chalkboard Layout at the course level to be "Audio Only". On the single chalkboard within that course that should use the "Small Video" layout, you can then change the Chalkboard Layout on that chalkboard from "Inherited Layout" to "Small Video".
