By the time the session is over, you will be able to understand what identity theft is; recognize its effects; detect identity theft; take effective action in the event of identity theft; and finally, prevent identity theft.
Why “What You Need to Know About Identity Theft” Matters
Having your identity stolen can be a frightening experience. You could find yourself in this situation if, for example, you wallet was stolen, your Social Security number has been accessed, or you are notified that a company you deal with experienced a data breach and lost some of your personal data, such as your credit card information. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to prevent identity theft. And, if you identity is stolen, there are also steps you can take to detect misuse that has already occurred and to prevent potential future misuse.
