How to Set the Chalkboard Layout

by | Feb 10, 2014 | Tips & Tricks

With every chalkboard element that you create within the DigitalChalk learning management system, you have control over the layout. There are three possible layout options that allow you to incorporate slides, audio, notes and media.

Inherited

Inherited is the default layout option for the parent course, or set for your organization under the administration tab. If someone changes the parent layout there is a likelihood that the layout for your course(s) may change as well.

Large Video

Large video is a simple option. It gives you a large video screen on the right and a course chapter section to the left, as well as a note area for student use.

Audio Only

Audio only is used for organizations that do not need a section for videos and want to convert their PowerPoints to use in the chalkboard element. To the right, the slides appear and the chapters and notes are on the left. Once the slides are uploaded, you need to have some sort of audio uploaded in the media section – in order to synch the slides to the timeline. Don’t have any audio that you want to use for this? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. We have a set of blank audio clips  for you to use, ranging from 5 minutes to 20 minutes, 25 minutes to 40 minutes, and  45 minutes to 60 minutes.

Small Video

Small video is the option that allows you to combine both slides and videos together. The video window is smaller and located in the top left corner above the chapters and notes, and the slide window is to the right. Since you have a video uploaded already, you can easily time the slides to that video and don’t need to worry about uploading another audio clip.
